Treatment with amlodipine produced a decrease in atherotic injuries - seen as a reduction in the diameter of the endothelial layer and a marked reduction in the number of foam cells; accumulation of lipids was also reduced and infl ammatory cells were absent. This indicates that amlodipine treatment was effective in decreasing the atherosclerotic process.
