1. This study was carried out on 40 healthy male subjects administered aspirin orally in dosages of 75, 150, 300 and 600 mg once only and their Platelet Factor-3 (PF3) release time was determined. 2. All doses of aspirin caused a significant inhibition of PF3 release which usually lasted for 3 days. 3. 600 mg of Aspirin was observed to exert maximal effect on PF3 release.

1. One thousand and eighty prescriptions of dermatology patients were analysed regarding potency of topical corticosteroids, frequency, duration, site of application and the quantity used. 2. Potent topical corticosteroids were prescribed for 41% and very potent formulations for 22% patients. 3. Frequency of application was mentioned in most (93%) of prescriptions but quantity to be used in only 12% prescriptions.

1. Chronic oral administration of the crude alcoholic extract of the stalk of the leaf of Piper betle Linn. showed antifertility effect. This was manifested by the antiandrogenic action in male rats. 2. Noticeable decrease in relative organ weights with 0-33% fertility rate, reduced sperm count and sluggish motility at doses of 1.25 and 1.5 g/kg daily for 30 consecutive days were recorded. 3. Significant increase (P<0.0l) in cholesterol (adrenal and testis) was an important manifestation. 4. It could be concluded that the plausible cause of infertility in male rats was due to inhibition of steroidogenesis.

1. The levels of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA) in the lens of control as well as Busulfan treated rats were determined. 2. The treated, non-cataractous lenses showed an increase in the DNA and RNA levels while the cataractous lenses showed decrease. 3. These changes in the nucleic acids were reflected on the protein synthesis, which was observed to increase prior to cataract formation and decrease during the progression of cataract. 4. These findings of the action of Busulfan in the above parameters have been correlated in the following ways : (1) the defense mechanism is evoked prior to cataract formation thus maintaining the lens transparency for a while (2) the cumulative action of the drug could produce a gradual inhibitory action on the nucleic acids thereby inhibiting protein synthesis and impairing the enzyme systems involved in the defense mechanism of the lens. 5. This could lead to cataractous changes in the busulfan treated lenses.

1. A specific and sensitive HPLC method for simultaneously quantitating phenobarbitone, pheoytoin and carbamazepine is described. The sensitivity of the method was 0.1 'g/ml for all the three drugs. The method compared well with EMIT assay (syva kits)
