Objectives: To compare the pharmacokinetics of two brands of oral cyclosporin solution was compared in healthy male volunteers.
Methods: A single oral dose of 15mg/kg of either test or reference preparations of cyclosporin was administered to all the volunteers in double blind randomised cross over fashion. Plasma levels of cyclosporin were analysed using HPLC.
Results: The mean peak plasma cyclosporin concentration of 654.4ng/ml was observed at 3.39h with test brand and was similar to that of reference brand with Cmax of 628.61ng/ml at 3.43h. The differences between the pharmacokinetic parameters of two brands of cyclosporin were statistically in significant.
Conclusion: Both the brands of cyclosporin can be considered to be bioequivalent on the basis of the results obtained.
