Electrical activity of brain in endosulfan toxicity

. The electrical activity of brain was studied in anaesthetized cats after intravenous administration of endosulfan. The pesticide produced indistinguishable changes such as hypersynchrony, rhythmic bursts of spikes and waves of isolated seizure pattern in electrocorticogram (ECoG). The concentration of the compound was maximum in cerebral cortex as compared to other areas of the brain which corresponds to the seizure pattern in ECoG. Records of blood pressure showed immediate hypotension which was followed by a persistent hypertension. Studies were also extended to spinal sectioned cats. Acetylcholine was depleted for up to 2 hours without any change in acetylcho linesterase activity.
