We would like to share ideas on “Evidences suggesting a possible role of Vitamin D in COVID 19: The missing link.”[1] Singh et al. concluded that “Using Vitamin D as prophylaxis and/or chemotherapeutic treatment … of Vitamin D affecting many people worldwide.”[1] We agree that Vitamin D might play a role in the management of COVID-19. Trials might be useful. Considering trial, some important concerns are hereby discussed. First, it should assess the impact of genetic polymorphism. Vitamin D-binding protein polymorphism might be associated with outcome of Vitamin D supplementation in the COVID-19 treatment.[2] Additionally, if a trial will be performed, a background Vitamin D data of subjects should be assessed.

The effect of Vitamin D in COVID-19 might also be associated with some other modifiers. Sunlight exposure and estrogen interaction should be discussed. Estradiol is also proposed for its usefulness in managing COVID-19.[3] There might be an interesting co-advantage of both Vitamin D and estradiol in the management of COVID-19.
