Padma Shri Prof. Ranjit Roy Chaudhury, Dean of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh from 1978 till 1981 and the first Head of the Pharmacology department. He was known as a specialist in medical teaching and health planner. He also served at senior positions in the World Health Organization. He was member of the Board of Governors of the Medical Council of India. He was fellow of various academic Institutions and organizations like the WHO. He was Chairman - Expert Committee on Reforms in Drug Regulation and Clinical Trials, MoHFW, Govt. of India.

A great Pharmacologist a great soul, friend, guide and a philosopher. A great loss to Pharmacology society and to the Nation.
