Effect of verapamil on gastric ulcers in rats

1. Verapamil, a calcium channel blocker has been found effective in reducing gastriculcers induced by pylorus ligation and aspirin in rats. 2. In the pylorus ligated rats it does not significantly affect the volume of gastric secretion, free acidity and total acidity. 3. In both the models the reduction in ulcer index was not dose dependent.
