1. A double blind non crossover, placebo-controlled trial was done to assess the efficacy of Septilin, an Ayurvedic preparation, in comparison with chlorpheniramine maleate (CPM).
2. Group 1 (n=lOO) was administered Septilin 2 tabs t. i. d. with a placebo of CPM and Group II (n =90) was administered CPM (25 mg) t. i. d. with a placebo of Septilin.
3. Based on clinical assessment and patients self assessment score the two treatments brought about relief to the same extent. Septilin in a dose of 2 tabs t. i. d. was well tolerated.
