Local anaesthetic activity of some parasubstituted acetophenone mannich bases

1. Twenty five Mannich bases of para substituted acetophenones were synthesized and tested for local anaesthetic activity in rabbits and guineapigs. 2 All the compounds of dibenzyl series showed significant surface and infiltration anaesthetic activity. 3. In the piperidine series only compound (-piperidinoethyl p-chlorophenyl ketone HCI showed local anaesthetic activity. This compound did not possess any local irritant effect.
