1. Five antibacterial agents viz. doxycycline, co-trimoxazole, ampicillin, gentamicin and rifampicin were studied for their interaction with glibenclamideon blood sugar level (BSL) in rabbits. 2. All these antibacterial agents failed to induce perse any significant modulation of BSL. 3. In doxycycline treated rabbits glibenclamide induced a greater degree of mean hypoglycemic effect at the end of 1 and 6 h. 4. In rifampicin pretreated rabbits the hypoglycemic effect of glibendamide was significantly delayed and reduced. Ampicillin, gentamicin or cotrimoxazole failed to modify glibenclamide induced hypoglycemia.
