Antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory activity of carrageenan from Hypnea musciformis wulfen

. Pharmacological studies on K-carrageenan extracted from Hypnea musciformis have shown that it antagonizes histamine-induced spasm in guineapig ielum and possesses anti-inflammatory activity against rat hind paw oedema induced by commercial carrageenan. There is no significant effect on blood pressure and respiration.
