. Using carrageenin induced edema in rat left hind paw as a model for inflammation, the effect of beta adrenergic blocking agents on the anti-inflammatory activity of oxyphenbutazone and dexamethasone was studied. The anti-inflammatory activity was counteracted by beta blocking agents. 'This action is discussed in relation to carbohydrate metabolism.
