Intravenous glycerol in the management of raised intracranial pressure

Twenty seven patients having raised intra cranial pressure of varied etiology like trauma, tuberculosis, neoplasms and non-haemorrhagic cerebrovascular accidents were treated with 10% glycerol intravenously. There was marked clinical improvement in twenty three cases. Intravenous administration of glycerol was non-toxic and the response was better than mannitol.
