Efficacy of adrenergic blockers, fluids and xanthinol nicotinatc in combating the endotoxin shock produced experimentally in dogs, using E.coli endotoxin, was studied. Different groups of the animals were treated with agents like phenoxybenzamine, propranolol, xanthinol nicotinatc and low molecular weight dextran alone as well as in different combinations. Survival time, blood pressure, central venous pressure, S. G. O. T. and serum potassium were the parameters taken into consideration to determine the potential utility of these agents. Results were discussed. (Part of this work was presented at " Lomodex Symposium " held at New Delhi.)
